World Environment Day 2024

World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and catalyzes global awareness and action for environmental protection while fostering a unified response to combat pressing ecological challenges. This day plays a critical role in promoting sustainable practices and policies to ensure a healthier planet for future generations.
The theme for World Environment Day 2024 is ‘Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience’ which highlights the urgent need to address environmental degradation in the face of increasing climate challenges. Set to be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this year’s observance aims to foster greater awareness and action towards reversing land degradation and mitigating the impacts of droughts which are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change.
Celebrations of World Environment Day 2024 encourage global efforts to restore ecosystems, promote sustainable land management practices and support policies that lead to improved soil health and water conservation. These actions are essential not only for enhancing food and water security but also for stabilizing carbon in the soil, which contributes to climate change mitigation.
